Restroom Report Privacy Policy

Restroom Report helps travelers find clean, usable restrooms at gas stations, truck stops, rest areas, and other public-access locations. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
Sign in with Apple may provide a user identifier, name, and email (based on your Apple choices). Guest mode uses an anonymous Firebase identifier for your session on the device.
Location
With permission, we use location while the app is open to:
- Show nearby gas stations, truck stops, and rest areas
- Display distances and open directions in Apple Maps
- Verify you are near a stop before you submit a restroom rating
- Optionally suggest rating a nearby stop when it looks like you have stopped there (see below)
Verified ratings may include rounded distance from the station, rounded GPS accuracy, a verification timestamp, and a proximity-verified flag. We do not store your exact coordinates with reviews.
Optional in-app reminders. To help you contribute, the app may notice — using your current location while the app is open — that you appear to be stopped at a nearby station and show a reminder asking if you'd like to rate its restroom. This uses only foreground location; we do not track you in the background and do not store a history of where you have been. Only lightweight reminder state (such as which stops we've already asked about, to avoid repeats) is saved on your device.
We do not collect background location and do not request "Always" location access. You can deny permission in iOS Settings and still browse stations, get directions, report issues, and send feedback. Restroom ratings require location when submitting.
Ratings, reports, and feedback
We store restroom ratings, amenity answers, optional restroom access type, optional comments, issue reports, feedback messages, timestamps, and linked station IDs. Location and access details are community-reported and focus only on facility condition and access — not on individual people. Reviews may be visible to other users.
Private lists: Favorite and avoided station IDs are stored on your user profile and are not shown to other users.
Restroom photos: Not collected in v1. Photo upload and display are disabled in this release.
Device and usage data
We collect app version, optional crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics), and optional analytics events (Firebase Analytics). You can opt out in Settings → Privacy.
We do not use cross-app tracking (NSPrivacyTracking is false).
2. How We Use Information
- Provide maps, ratings, reviews, and saved lists
- Authenticate accounts and persist sessions
- Improve reliability and fix crashes
- We do not sell personal information
3. Firebase and Third Parties
When production Firebase is enabled:

Firebase Storage is reserved for a future photo feature and is not used for user uploads in v1.

4. Your Choices

5. Data Retention
We retain data as needed to operate the service. Aggregated CleanScores may remain after individual review removal when required for community accuracy.
6. Data Deletion Requests
Email restroomreport.support@gmail.com with subject Data Deletion Request. Include your Apple-linked email if applicable. We process eligible requests within 30 days.
7. Children
Restroom Report is not directed at children under 13. Contact us to request removal of a child's data.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit and Firebase security rules. No system is completely secure.
9. Changes
We will post updates at https://truesolutionsllc.github.io/RestroomReport-Site/privacy with a new "Last updated" date.
